Living Seas Hong Kong has objected to the plan (plan details can be found HERE)  We have also being copied on many objections sent in.  Here are a few samples:

"Once again a government department appears to be planning to turn a blind eye to further destruction of Hong Kong's almost finished eco systems Clearly the proposed build for profit scheme is not designed to alleviate in any way the Hong Kong Housing problem but to merely line the pockets of already wealthy developers. It is clear that the development will destroy a valuable habitat for an endangered species & thus breach the current Wild Life Protection Ordinance"   - Hong Kong resident

"I do not consider this location to be suitable for a marina development given the site's exposure to rough seas and high winds, particularly during the winter monsoon and summer typhoon seasons.  I understand that HK needs additional marina facilities, but these should be sited in naturally sheltered areas."  - Hong Kong resident

"we believe the proposed master layout plan and concept of the project is fundamentally wrong and will cause major, irreversible damage to the unique biodiversity and landscape in South Lamma. The current zoning should be retained in order to conserve this special and beautiful area for the Hong Kong people". - Hong Kong based conservation organisation

"We hope the Town Planning Board will take note of the comments made by local indigenous villagers, residents, environmental specialists, yachters and other stakeholders that make up the cross-section of opposition to the developer’s scheme and help retain South Lamma as one of Hong Kong’s natural assets"  - Lamma Island Resident group

Clearly there is much opposition to the plans from a wide section of the community, the general message is that this is simply the wrong place for this kind of development.

We are hoping that the Town Planning Board will heed to these calls and that this wonderful place is preserved for the future generations.
