Some good news, on the 16th December, the Town Planning Board finally rejected the application for the Baroque on Lamma project. A victory for many different groups and individuals. Special thanks to Jo Wilson and Living Lamma for all their hard work.

:woohoo: Thanks Gloria. It was a good win, Living Seas played a part in it. There are lots of significant issues in the Hong Kong's govt's approach to development and planning. They steam roll huge infrastructure projects through, provide limited transparency, environmental impact assessments are carried out by companies with a vested interest in the project, town planning board meetings are chaired by directors of development companies etc. etc.

The property companies are stocking large areas of 'rural' Hong Kong. And you are right, there are large areas of urban HK that can and should be redeveloped first.

    It is a messy situation.

Congra~a great success in this battle. I think the property developers are really clever, they always choose rural places to develop, as the cost is comparatively low. At the same time , they avoid to rebuild the old buildings because it requires higher cost and longer time to negogiate with the residents. However, in order to stick to our goal for sustainable development, better policy planning in HK is necessary.
