We returned to Yan Chau Tong Marine park on the 7th November 2010, with a group of 17 staff and friends from the US consulate in Hong Kong. Originally scheduled for the 23rd October, our plans had to be changed because of the imposing presence of Super Typhoon Megi.

Early November presented us with more typical Hong Kong autumn/winter weather and we had blue skies to match the fine scenery and company.

We start at Wu Kau Tang and walk through the Plover Cover country park, skirting the marine park and taking various opportunities to discuss marine life in the park and issues faced.

The walk took us to Lai Chi Wo and a lovely traditional Hakka lunch served on the village courtyard under a beautiful Banyan Tree.  Lunch was followed by a interesting and engaging discussion on all things related to Hong Kong’s marine life.

The hike back from Lai Chi Wo provides fantastic views of both Double Haven and the Shau Tau Kok, before finishing back at Wu Kau Tang.

We look forward to a another return trip.
